C’River: Five Die As Vehicle plunges into River

At least five people  feared dead yesterday after a red coloured Toyota saloon car plunged into a river in Adim axis of the Calabar-Ikom Highway in Biase local government area of Cross River State.
It was gathered that the vehicle which carried six passengers at Obubra Local Government Area was headed for Calabar when a tanker suddenly veered into its lane, forcing it off a bridge into the river.
An eye witness said the driver and a young woman managed to get out alive. Both were disorientated. The driver had gone partially deaf.
According to the eye witness, the young woman said she was in the vehicle with her boyfriend.
As at press time, the other five bodies as well as the vehicles had not been recovered.

The state of the Calabar-Ikom-Ogoja-Obudu Highway has been a source of worry for users because of its deplorable state.
