FG douses fears about GMOs, vows not to tolerate unhealthy products

The Federal Government has urged Nigerians not to entertain any fear on the Genetic Modified Organisms, GMOs, products currently in circulation in the country, even as it vowed not to tolerate or allow any unhealthy product to be smuggled to Nigeria.
The circulation of GMOs products gained prominence when a popular radio programme deliberated on it in Abuja. Fears about the product had since gone viral on internet as a dangerous product which had been introduced to Nigeria market.

The deceased, Mrs. Jackie Ifidon-Ola, (nee Waziri) was said to have died at an Abuja hospital in the early hours of Sunday after battling an undisclosed ailment.

A 35-year old patient, Auwal Muhammad has been arrested for raping a 16-month old baby on his sick bed at the Orthopaedic department of sman Dan Fodio Teachng Hospital in Sokoto.

Cancer: Pray for me, Diezani begs Nigerians

Immediate past Petroleum Resources Minister, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke, who is battling with cancer in London and  being investigated by UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA) for alleged corruption, has asked Nigerians to pray for her as she undergoes cancer surgery next week.

 According to The Cable,  Diezani, who spoke through her family lawyer, Oscar Onwudiwe, who denied reports of her arrest, said she was undergoing cancer treatment in the UK and “hopes to come out strong to face all the allegations.”

“The FMOH hereby confirms that there is no Ebola Virus Disease in Nigeria, and thus Nigeria remains Ebola free. The general public is, however, advised to continue to observe good hygienic behavior that includes hand washing, hand sanitisation and general environmental cleanliness,” the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Health, Mr. Linus Awute, said on Friday at a press conference to clarify the issue.
Also, the management of the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH) has also described as false and misleading the rumours making the rounds that there is an existence of the deadly Ebola Virus Disease in the hospital. was still being awaited, the victim died of haemorrhagic fever and not EVD as speculated.

10 Quarantined After Man Dies Exhibiting Ebola Symptoms in Calabar

 University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH) in Calabar, Cross River State was on 7 October 2015 characterised  by Fear over a suspected case of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).
Although management of the hospital denied the development, it, nevertheless, shut down the Accident and Emergency ward after the Ebola virus scare hit the health institution yesterday.
Investigation by Daily Sun revealed that the scare was induced by the death of a patient, who was brought in from nearby Akpabuyo community in Akpabuyo Local Government Area of the state for treatment on Tuesday eve­ning, but reportedly died at about 2 a.m. yesterday, of symptoms related to the deadly virus.
