Taming the Tongue by Prof Archbishop K.O.K

Taming the tongue has to do with having control over your tongue. In that, what you don't have control over, will at the end of the day control you absolutely. It is imperative you bear in mind that when the devil wants to control a man, he will first and foremost subdue the heart, and indirectly takes total charge of the heart.

In addition, the only way God can control you is by taking control of your heart; since the devil has occupied the heart, he then rules over your life.

"The problems we have in this world today is the product of the elders" Learn to treat our young ones with love. Refrain from using abusive words, words that are disparaging in nature. Incessant rain of abusive words on growing children will bring about negativity. Elders are model. Indirectly you model behaviour. Learn to treat young ones with love. This to a large extend, implies that at one point or the other you have passed through their stage .

Furthermore, you must have control over your tongue, if not you can't impart your world positively. If you don't have total control of your tongue you will be a gossip, even talkative . when you don't have control over your tongue, nature will come after you.
In taming one's tongue, the following points are guidelines that needs to be followed tenaciously viz.

*Taming the tongue has to do with growing up: This point has been over emphasised on our previous post. I have talked about how elders model behaviour, and young ones emulate reoccurring attitudes, and overtime it will become parts and parcel of them. And in turn, it becomes a standard. And biblical injunction has further espoused that we exercise full control of our tongue. In that its has a way of bouncing back. (Numbers 14 :25-35)

*Discipline: A lot of us have ran into problem, because you aren't disciplined. You want to have everything about life, yet you don't thread with caution. When you are disciplined you will think well. Indiscipline makes us to go the rough way.

*Self control : when you are disciplined, you are under control. And when you are disciplined, self control comes into fore. Run away from rebellious group be it at home, church even work place. A rebellious man, is always a rebellious person.

*Love: Love makes allowance for people's weaknesses, so that we can continue to coexist. Love will make you to be careful while taking decision. It takes you, for God to make you whom He wants you to be. The church is a Carpenter's workshop.

I pray in the Mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ that as a result of this teaching (s) that we refrain from using abusive words, rather to continually be an instrument for blessing, loving one another.
