Adamawa state has been condemned by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Speaking
through his senior special assistant on media and publicity, Mallam Shehu
Garba, the president described the attack as a heinous and cowardly act.
According to
Vanguard, he then directed the relevant authorities to take adequate measures
to prevent future attacks on displaced people.
He ordered
security agencies to tighten security measures in and around all IDP camps
across the country.
Buhari noted
that the terrorists were bent on causing fear and panic among Nigerians by
detonating bombs against soft targets close to where innocent citizens live,
and he urged Nigerians to rise in unison to root out the terrorists.
He said: “We must not let the
desperate and evil-minded criminals have any respite. There is now an urgent
need for all to be vigilant by paying utmost attention to security issues at
all levels – home, work, market, places of worship, schools, etc.
“To
defeat terrorism, all hands round the clock is called for, and to feed the
country’s security agents with vital information to preempt and prevent crimes
so as to forestall further insurgent activities.’’
